Fresh Peach Pie

Posted by Roxanne on July 15, 2014

Peach Pie

Summertime conjures up so many fond memories both of activities and food.

You can’t recall past summers and not remember peaches. The rosy, ripe jewels and that juice that drips from your chin to your toes. Awh, yes, when peaches are ripe and at their peak their is no better memory.

My peach memory from the summer of 2014 will be the South Carolina peaches that I enjoyed on the beach last week. We vacationed on Seabrook Island and many days were devoted to beach life. It was a sweet treat to enjoy a peach from my beach chair and not worry about the drippy mess. When I finished enjoying my peach, the ocean beckoned and cleared away any juicy evidence. [Read more…]

Raspberry Shortbread Bars

Posted by Kathy on July 8, 2014

I love to bake cookies. Some cookies, I feel, are just for Christmas, like my gingerbread cookies, but there are a special few that I bake all year long. They are beautiful on a holiday tray and yet taste equally wonderful on a hot summer day with a big glass of iced tea. The red raspberry preserves in this recipe shines through so they look pretty on a Christmas tray, yet the raspberry flavor shouts summer. Last week, pork tenderloin was on sale for 5 bucks. [Read more…]

Cast Iron Skillet Cheese Fondue

Cast Iron Skillet Cheese Fondue photo

Summertime and casual evenings around the grill make a natural pair. Wine, grilling and eating outside are fun and relaxing to me. Sometimes it is just my hubby and me, and sometimes, the evening expands to include my daughters, friends and family. Either way, we munch on appetizers while we wait for the grill to work its magic—and this Cast Iron Skillet Cheese Fondue is perfect. Summer’s best juicy tomatoes and fresh, fragrant herbs top warm, gooey, garlic-flavored cheese. What could be better? [Read more…]

Praline Cookies

Praline Cookies

Have you ever tried the Praline Cookies in the Cafe at Nordstrom’s? Oh, trust me, you would remember if you had experienced this treasure. My top two picks from the Nordstrom cafe are of course, the Tomato Basil Soup and the Praline Cookie. Picture the Nordstrom cookie—it is the size of a tea cup saucer—huge! You can indulge or share it 4 ways, either way you come out a winner. [Read more…]
