Cake Pop Cookbook

Posted by Roxanne on December 6, 2011

‘ Tis the season to be jolly! What fun it is to think of gifts for special friends and family. Shhh! These are going to be teacher gifts at my daughter’s school this year. I plan to attach a gift card to their favorite coffee or lunch spot and share sweet treats too! We had such fun dipping and decorating cake pops from the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker.

Kathy and I have had so much fun working with this product. We tested and tasted and wrote the instruction book that is packed in the product.  In fact, we had so much fun that we have a BIG announcement. Our second cookbook is being printed now and will be arriving very soon.  175 Best Babycakes Cake Pops Recipes was such fun to write. We can hardly wait for you’all to see the results of testing, testing and more testing–and, oh yea, tasting. The book is available for preorder on Amazon now and very soon you can order it at www.thebabycakesshop.com or purchase it from a retailer. These wonderful, tasty little morsels of cake bake in just 4 to 6 minutes–and are perfect for dipping, glazing and decorating. Whether it is a treat for yourself, for your child’s teacher like we just baked, or for an elegant dinner party, these are pure fun and taste wonderful. Plus the cookbook is packed with mouth-watering appetizers, doughnuts, ebelskivers, muffins, biscuits and more.

We will be sharing more news about the cookbook and our new 175 Best Babycakes Cake Pops Recipes cookbook in the future, be we just couldn’t keep quiet any longer!

Southern Style Pecan Pies

Posted by Roxanne on November 19, 2011

My love of cooking started at a very young age. My mother loved to be in the kitchen and was a fabulous cook. She taught me her “tricks of the trade” and to this day I still call her frequently and ask for her advice.

I was thinking about this as I drove to pick our daughter up from a sleepover at grandma and grandpa’s house last night. As I walked in the door, those wonderful aromas that I so vividly remember growing up surrounded me. My mom was pouring out peanut brittle and banana bread was in the oven baking. Mom is still having fun in the kitchen. Now I don’t want to make mom angry at me by sharing her exact age, but I will give you a hint. We celebrated her 80th birthday several years ago. What a blessing that she is still cooking, (when she is not at dances with my dad or playing cards with their friends!)  I hope I am still having as much fun in the kitchen at 80+ as my mom is now. Holiday Cookie Exchange

Posted by Roxanne on November 7, 2011

Please don’t look too closely at your calendar and please don’t judge me. Yes, it is before Thanksgiving and yes, our house is completely decorated for the holidays. We are ready to enjoy the season!

After looking at our calendars, travel schedules, recitals, church music programs, youth retreats, work deadlines, birthdays and many other celebrations we decided to take the only free weekend left and get to work on decorating so that our family might enjoy this holiday with a little less stress. It did seem a bit strange Friday evening when we were trimming the tree and grilling steaks, but I’m all about new traditions along with the old.

There was another motivation for all the hoopla. My culinary book club is due to knock on my door tonight. Guess what the theme is this month? A holiday cookie exchange. Each member is to bring 2 dozen of  her favorite holiday cookie and we are going to exchange treats, recipes and holiday memories, all while enjoying a meal. Everyone voted to do the exchange early so that they could taste the cookies and prepare the recipes for holiday giving. [Read more…]

Apple Butter Filled Apple Cider Cupcakes

Posted by Roxanne on October 24, 2011

This has to be my favorite season of the year. The weather, the leaves and the mood of those all around makes this such a special time.

Last year, our dear friends introduced us to a Kansas City treasure that I hadn’t known about. Hard to believe that a die hard foodie like myself missed this one all these years. On a crisp, fall day, we met two other families at Dunn’s Cider Mill. The experience was truly a “Norman Rockwell” type of day. We enjoyed hot, fresh cider doughnuts and quenched our thirst with Dunn’s crisp apple cider. The kids had a great time and the parents were able to sit a while and catch up. I will treasure the memories of that fall day for years to come. When fall rolled around this year, one of the first “field trips” I wanted to take was back to Dunn’s. We enjoyed another day at Dunn’s recently and once again savored the doughnuts and cider. This time we purchased cider to bring home to enjoy. [Read more…]

Best Ever Chocolate Cake

Posted by Roxanne on October 10, 2011

This is the beginning of birthday and holiday season in our family. On Saturday night, we celebrated my mother’s birthday and our daughter’s upcoming birthday. What a blessing that the entire family spent the evening together sharing a meal and catching up. No birthday party in our family would be complete without our traditional birthday cake.

This recipe was given to me about 30 years ago from Kathy. I have made it hundreds of times over the years and it never fails. I cherish this recipe because it is moist and very easy to put together. [Read more…]
