The recipes are designed to make cooking a joint, pleasurable experience. Last January began with many days in the photo studio styling the food photos with the expert guidance of David Shaughnessy. ‘Tis the season! I love everything the holidays has to offer—the sights, sounds, smells, and food combine with the joy, hope and love and make the season magical. But, let’s be real. All that joy creates a crazy, busy schedule. Yet no one wants to miss a holiday party or chance to catch up with old friends for the lack of an easy to prepare, fantastic appetizer.
This is one of my family’s favorite appetizers. This Southwest Appetizer Cheesecake is so easy, for you bake it in the slow cooker. (The moist even heat is ideal for a cheesecake.) The 7-inch size makes it just right for any party or gift. The creamy goodness and hint of jalapeno complements any menu yet hints at Mexican without overpowering. What a magnificent fall season we are enjoying in the Midwest. It seems necessary to pinch myself over and over again to ensure that I am not living in San Diego. Beautiful orange infused sunrises combined with pink and purple sunsets, cool mornings, warm days and then cool evenings…..life is good!
It seems we are spending more and more time outside in front of the outdoor fireplace. Peace and beauty abound and we enjoy the silence and then again the moments filled with lively conversation. The crackle of the fire and the chill in the air beckon for a delicacy that we enjoy only during this time of year. I am not sure why we don’t indulge in this treat year round…oh yea….Doctor’s orders. The treat I am referring to is caramel corn. [Read more…]
