Bean and Bacon Soup

Posted by Kathy on January 6, 2015

It’s cold. Really cold. The holiday rush is over, the decorations are stored away and I want to cocoon.  When cold winds howl, who doesn’t want to stay in and keep warm? On some nights, for me, that means cooking from what I have on hand and not running to the grocery store. Do you ever feel that way?

The-Newlywed-CookbookEven though its super cold, I am excited about the New Year, for our new book, The Newlywed Cookbook, Cooking Happily Ever After is now on store shelves. (Roxanne announced it and popped the Champagne last week!) We are thrilled and are looking forward to cooking recipes from the book, teaching classes and sharing tips that help newlywed couples start a lifetime of great cooking. What to register for and how to use those items, plus recipes for quick dinners to special dishes that create wonderful meals together and build lifelong memories.

Gougeres – Happy New Year

Posted by Roxanne on December 30, 2014

Gougeres

It is ever so hard to believe that we are ringing in a New Year already! 2015! Can you believe it? Let’s count on this year being the best yet and let’s start counting our blessings, one by one.

The Newlywed Cookbook

We have a blessing to announce today! Our newest cookbook, The Newlywed Cookbook, cooking happily ever after is here! Ya hoo! We had such fun creating recipes for today’s couples, married or not! We had such fun prepping, tasting and sipping our way through the process. Then with the magic wand of the design team of St. Martin’s Press, voila a beautiful book for you to enjoy. I can’t think of a better way to start a new life together. [Read more…]

Holiday Broccoli Cauliflower Salad

Posted by Kathy on December 16, 2014

Broccoli Cauliflower Salad Photo

The recipe was a hit and the most requested recipe after my party. No, it wasn’t the appetizers or desserts, it was a salad. What a surprise!

My daughter enjoyed this Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad at a work gathering and shared the recipe with me. Sure enough, all who tasted it wanted the recipe. I am not sure who to credit for the original recipe, but I am sure happy it came my way and glad to share it with you. [Read more…]

Cranberry Chocolate Christmas Cake

Posted by Roxanne on December 9, 2014

Cranberry Chocolate Cake
Holiday traditions run strong in our family. We have the favorites that we cling to each year and we always enjoy adding new traditions to our list. One dessert that surfaces each holiday is Cranberry Chocolate Cake. Now don’t panic when you see the picture. There is no additional fruit inside the moist, luscious cake. The cranberries on top are glazed and glistening with sugar, so no worries, if you prefer no fruit with your chocolate they can easily be “gifted” to someone else at the table.

This cake says Christmas in so many ways. It makes a wonderful gift to neighbors and friends and while it might look complicated, it is really very easy to assemble for your holiday gatherings. [Read more…]
