Summertime Sangria

Posted by Roxanne on May 12, 2015

Summertime Sangria
Warm breezes and sunshine are beginning to peek through the days of the week. Soon all we will be talking about will be the heat. Not to worry, help is on the way.

Summertime and sangria go hand in hand like beach towels and ocean waves. While I don’t live close enough to enjoy an ocean I do know how to find a spot with water and fun whether it be a swimming pool, pond or lake. Thanks to this sangria guide, all is well as I can enjoy family and friends, read a summer novel or just relax with a cool, refreshing sangria.

And I can always dream of ocean days in my future.

Wishing each of you a summer to remember!

Use the following as a guide to create your own signature sangria.

Summertime Sangria

Select two bottles of Arbor Mist Wine such as:

Tropical Fruit Chardonnay
Island Fruit Pinot Grigio
Pomegranate Berry Pinot Noir
Peach Chardonnay
Sangria Zinfandel
Strawberry White Zinfandel
Mango Strawberry Moscato
Peach Moscato
Cherry Moscato

Add one cup of fruit juice to complement the flavor profile you are preparing.
Select juice such as orange, pineapple, cranberry or apple.

Add one cup of a complimentary schnapps such as:
Tropical pineapple schnapps
Strawberry schnapps
Peach schnapps
Mixed berry schnapps
Island punch schnapps
Raspberry schnapps
Watermelon schnapps
Cherry schnapps

Select a 16 oz. package of frozen fruit to compliment the flavor.
Frozen fruits such as peaches, strawberries, mixed berries, pineapple or mango are good choices. Thaw the frozen fruit and process in a blender with 1/3 cup of simple syrup.

To sum up your super simple sangria, combine 2 bottles of the same flavor of Arbor Mist, 1 cup fruit juice, 1 cup schnapps and fruit that has been pureed with a simple syrup. Refrigerate until chilled and serve. If desired, pour over ice.

Tip: Place plenty of complimentary fresh fruit in the pitcher before serving.

In the summer, I like to keep simple syrup on hand and store in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks. Simply heat equal portions of water and sugar together until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
