While the math and science communities celebrate Pi Day (in honor of that unending number that begins 3.14) we are going to celebrate all things pie! Now you can enjoy all kinds of pies, from appetizer pie and savory main dish pie to scrumptious dessert pie! We will begin with the crust and answer all of your questions about the pastry. Then, on to an appetizer, Caramelized Onion Tart. Our delicious main dish will be a Chicken Pot Pie, flavored with leeks and thyme. For dessert, a classic, two-crust apple pie and a one-crust, Chocolate Cream Pie.

The Pink Full Moon is April 23 and it is time for everyone to celebrate spring with a pretty pink tea! Our teas are always fun and we pattern it in the style of a classic elegant English tea, so we will keep those tea cups full. There will be plenty of delicious pink sweet and savory bites and we will share all of the tips and recipes you need to host your own tea. Join us as we remember a local favorite—Stephenson’s Apple Farm Restaurant. We will begin with an apple fritter, and if you remember dining there, an apple fritter was served first, before the meal. We will then enjoy their famous Baked Chicken in Butter and Cream. That wonderful chicken will be served with Green Rice and one of the restaurant’s other tasty sides. For dessert it must be one of their memorable apple desserts, but which one to choose? Come find out and help us relive the delicious memories of dinner at Stephenson’s. Even if you never went to Stephenson’s you are in for a delicious meal.

Italian Night, Kansas City Restaurant Style

The inspiration for these classic dishes may be Italian, but Kansas City restaurants have put their own local twist on the flavor. One might wonder, did chicken spiedini originate in Kansas City’s own Garozzo’s restaurant? The historical questions won’t diminish the popularity of this recipe, which will be the center of the plate for this delicious evening. We will round out this fun menu with Kansas City classics that reflect our Italian traditions. Of course, that great chicken will be served with penne pasta, a classic Italian chopped salad and garlic toast. Our favorite appetizer is freshly made ricotta and we can’t pass up an opportunity to share that fantastic recipe. For dessert, we will serve a wonderful rum cake, inspired by V’s Restaurant. Come hungry to this Kansas City-Italian evening.
